Lap Panel Fencing
Lap panels are a popular choice when it comes to domestic fencing offering ease of installation with a relatively low initial outlay. When installed correctly they can give many years of trouble free service. They can be installed with timber or concrete posts, with or without gravel boards or with trellis above perhaps. Gravel boards, whether concrete or timber, will greatly increase the longevity of your panel fence but you should remember to increase the length of your posts so that there is always a minimum of 600mm (2ft) in the ground.

When erecting your panel fence start at the highest end of the run and securely concrete the first post in allowing the panel height plus 50mm out of the ground. Fix the panel to this post making sure that its level on the top. (you might have to put a tile or brick under to keep it in this position.) Make sure you’re on the correct line using a string or by eye if you’re confident, then dig the next hole at the end of this panel. Again, leave a 50mm upstand to your post, fix your panel to this post, make sure its plumb and check the line. Now concrete this post in and repeat. A 50mm upstand should be maintained on each post for aesthetics.
